Powell Webstore: Back by popular demand for a limited time! Our Powell Elementary webstore is open through Monday, October 31 and may be accessed with the link below. There are several school shirts available in our webstore, including sweatshirts and our Powell patriotic shirt. Each Thursday is patriotic day at Powell to celebrate our American heritage and to honor our namesake, General Colin Powell. Please keep in mind there must be 10 pieces of each design ordered school wide in order for the design to be printed.


CISD Fun Run: The annual CISD Fun Run will take place October 25. It is open to students in grades 3-6. The one-mile run will start at 4:00p.m. and take place at College Park and The Woodlands High School.

Picture Day: Class pictures will be taken Friday, October 21. Order forms were sent home today with your child. Order forms must be returned on picture day. Fall individual picture retakes will also be on this day. Please contact Jennifer Hanners at by Thursday, October 20 if your child needs a retake of their individual picture.


Clinic Happenings from Nurse Jean:

Illness we have seen this week:

  • Stomach Virus: With/without fever, nausea, vomiting.

Friendly Reminders from Nurse Jean:

  • Students must be fever free (under 100.0) for 24 hours without the aid of Tylenol or Motrin before returning to school.
  • Students are not allowed to transport medication to and from school including cough drops and over the counter medications. If your child needs medication during the school day, please stop by the clinic and sign it in with Nurse Jean or Mrs. Vicki.

Nominations for Gifted & Talented Testing: Nominations open October 3, 2016 for Conroe ISD’s Gifted and Talented program. Nominations can be made by the parents and/or teachers. All students can be nominated for the GT screener. However, it is recommended that parents of Kindergarten and 1st grade students wait until 2nd grade. All students in 2nd grade will take the first part of the GT screener in October. Nominations will be accepted through December 16, 2016, and testing will take place in February. The nomination form can be sent to school with your child or emailed to the Assistant Principal, Sarah Radford, at You can find the nomination form attached.


PTO News: Thank you to everyone who attended skate night. We had a super turnout and lots of fun. Our next skate night will be Feb 16 so mark your calendars!


Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 10:00 am in the activity room. Please come join us. It’s a great way to meet other parents, stay connect, and to get involved.

October 19 is Spirit Night at Jerry Built burgers from 4-8 p.m. Mention you are there for spirit night when ordering and 20% of the sale comes back to our school.


Fundraiser order delivery will be Monday, October 17, from 2:00-6:30 p.m. If you are unable to pick up your items please have a friend, relative or neighbor pick up your order. All items not picked up will be considered a donation. If you have any questions, please email Becky Harel at


We are in dire need of volunteers to help with cookie dough delivery. If you would like to volunteer for a one hour shift, please us the sign up genius link below. Thank you for your help in making this fundraiser a success for our school.


Box Tops for Education: October Box Top Collection starts October 3 and will continue until October 28th! Please send your unexpired box tops to school with your child in a plastic baggie. Classes in each grade with the most box tops at the end of the month will receive a special prize! Thanks for clipping and sending in those box tops!
