Tropical Storm Harvey – 8/24/17

A message from POWELL ELEMENTARY

Parents/Guardians:

As you know, tropical storm Harvey is in the gulf and expected to gain strength. At this time, it appears that we are going to have a lot of rain from the system and some wind over the next 3-5 days. I encourage our families to limit travel during this time and be safe. Please make sure that you have food and water so you can limit your movement during this time. If you live in an area that floods or gets blocked in because of flooding, please consider alternatives for the weekend to avoid being stranded. Please be careful and safe over the weekend. All of our families matter!

At this time, there are no school closures. The district will be watching the weather closely and will make decisions based on information provided by the county. Flooding may be an issue if the maximum amount of rain ends up falling. Please know that we will be monitoring the situation and you will be notified as soon as a decision is made.

Thank you for your concerns and support.
