Clinic Happenings from Nurse Jean
Flu A and Flu B: we’ve had several cases of the Flu virus reported this week. Symptoms include body aches, headache, fever, cough, congestion, sore throat, with/without vomiting.
Friendly Reminders from Nurse Jean: Here are some steps to aid in illness prevention:
Hand washing. Please encourage frequent hand washing with soap at home. Observe your child and make sure they are using friction by rubbing their hands together for a minimum of 20 seconds prior to rinsing.
Cover their coughs. Please encourage your student to cough/sneeze into their elbow and use tissues when available. Wash hands after coughing/sneezing.
If your child is ill, please keep your student home. It is district policy that students must be fever free (less than 100.0) for 24 hours without the aid of Tylenol or Motrin prior to returning to school. Students must also be free from vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours AND be able to hold down a full meal before returning to school.
Glasses in the Lost & Found
There are 10 pair of prescription eyeglasses that have been turned in to the lost and found this year. If your child has lost a pair of glasses, please visit the front office to claim them.
The Powell PTO is in dire need of volunteers like you to help make the year and next year a success. There are many ways to help throughout the year – big and small! Signing up does not commit you to anything. You will be added to our volunteer database where you will learn about the various ways you can help throughout the year.
Please remember to complete the Volunteer Background Check at the bottom of the page to be able to volunteer at our school!
PTO has the following positions available this year: VP of Membership, Carnival Co-Chairs, Silent Auction Chairperson, Room Mom Liaison, Spirit Store Coordinator and Staff Appreciation Chairperson.
Volunteer Background Check
All volunteers in our school must complete the CISD Volunteer Background Check. This includes classroom readers, party volunteers, field trip chaperones and event volunteers. You can complete the free background check here.
Please sign up for a Parent Access account (PAC) if you have not done so already. This account will allow you to receive announcements, newsletters, safety information, absence and tardy notifications and other important updates. Throughout the year, you can log in to view grades, report cards, discipline records, cafeteria accounts and STAAR scores. If you registered for an account last year, you will not need to re-register for an account this year.
College Park Softball Camp
There will be a softball camp at College Park High School June 18-20. The camp is $90 and will provide comprehensive instruction on fundamentals of softball with an emphasis on execution. All skills will be taught at a level that will assist the student in becoming a better softball player. See the attached flyer for more information.
College Park Cheer Clinic
The College Park High School Cheerleaders are holding a spring skills clinic for any 5th- 8th grader looking to improve their cheer skills for tryouts. The clinic will be held February 24 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.cpspirit.com
