Pre-K and Kindergarten Roundup
Parents wishing to register their younger children for either pre-K or Kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year can start by completing the online application beginning on March 24, 2018. Please visit our website, powell.conroeisd.net, and click on the 2018-2019 registration button for more information. Our evening Kindergarten Roundup is on Thursday, April 5, 4:30-6:00 p.m. At this event registration can be completed, tours of the school will be offered, and our Kindergarten and Pre-K teachers and Administration will be available.
If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact our Registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org
If your child is currently enrolled at Powell, you do not need to register them for the 2018-2019 school year. They will automatically be enrolled in their next grade and there is no need to re-register for the bus they are currently taking. Please make sure you do reply to the online email questionnaire which will be emailed to you before school starts on August 15th. This email is the only way we can have current records regarding contacts and health information which is vital.
Clinic Happenings from Nurse Jean
What’s Going Around? General allergy symptoms – nasal congestion, itchy eyes, sore throat
Please encourage your children to wash their hands throughout the day, especially prior to eating and after using the restroom.
Friendly Reminders from Nurse Jean
Accidents and spills happen often in all grade levels, please send an extra change of clothing (including socks and underwear) with your child.
Youth Art Month
In order to celebrate Art Education and the fine work produced by the Conroe Independent School District visual art students, the art teachers of our district are hosting a student exhibit at all three of the Montgomery County Libraries in both North and South counties. We are thrilled to announce that
Venise Alto (4th Grade), Lukas Draskovich (4th Grade), Madison Hashimoto (4th Grade) and Zachary White (3rd Grade) will be representing Powell.
Their art work was chosen to be part of this year’s YOUTH ART MONTH STUDENT EXHIBIT at the Mitchell Library, 8125 Ashlane Way in The Woodlands, behind TWHS 9th Grade Campus from March 5th – March 28th. Please feel free to drop in during regular business hours to view the show. We are so proud of our students and all of the efforts they put in to their work!
Glasses in the Lost & Found
There are 10 pair of prescription eyeglasses that have been turned in to the lost and found this year. If your child has lost a pair of glasses, please visit the front office to claim them.
The Powell PTO is in dire need of volunteers like you to help make this year and next year a success. There are many ways to help throughout the year – big and small! Signing up does not commit you to anything. You will be added to our volunteer database where you will learn about the various ways you can help throughout they year.
Please remember to complete the Volunteer Background Check at the bottom of the page to be able to volunteer at our school!
PTO has the following positions available this year: VP of Membership, Room Mom Liaison, Spirit Store Coordinator and Staff Appreciation Chairperson.
Volunteer Background Check
All volunteers in our school must complete the CISD Volunteer Background Check. This includes classroom readers, party volunteers, field trip chaperones and event volunteers. You can complete the free background check here.
Please sign up for a Parent Access account (PAC) if you have not done so already. This account will allow you to receive announcements, newsletters, safety information, absence and tardy notifications and other important updates. Throughout the year, you can log in to view grades, report cards, discipline records, cafeteria accounts and STAAR scores. If you registered for an account last year, you will not need to re-register for an account this year.
Headed to Mitchell Intermediate next year? The Mitchell PTO is currently filling positions for next year. Volunteering is a great way to learn more about the school and meet parents from the other three feeder schools. For more information, please read the attached document.
The area High School’s Interact Spring Carnival, Bunnyfest, is quickly approaching! Bunnyfest is a carnival that different Interacts in the area come together to host every year. There will be games, candy, and an Easter egg hunt! This year the carnival will be held at The Woodlands High School from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on March 31.
Due to problems with our online school calendar, we are including a list of upcoming events.
