Our fall fundraiser went fantastic! Thank you to all of you for your help. With your participation, we earned over $25,000 for our school! Mrs. Irby’s class was the winner of the pizza party for highest sales. Thanks for your participation!
Save the Date
Fall fundraiser delivery is Friday, December 1st from 5-7:30 p.m. in the gym. If you are unable to come please send a friend, neighbor or relative to pick up your items. ALL ITEMS NOT PICKED UP WILL BE CONSIDERED A DONATION. After you pick up your fundraiser items come join us for our food truck frenzy. We will have several food trucks outside Powell on the bus ramp for you to enjoy. A portion of all sales will be donated back to the school. Hope to see you there!
Clinic Happenings from Nurse Jean
Friendly Reminders from Nurse Jean:
- What going around: stomach virus with and without fever and vomiting, flu virus with headache, fever, general fatigue, achiness
- As the weather changes and we approach cold and flu season, please encourage hand washing and remind your child to cover their cough.
- As a general rule, please remember to periodically check your child for lice and nits (lice eggs).
Please do not hesitate to call the clinic if you have any questions. Our direct number is 936-709-1709.
Different organizations reach out to Powell Elementary to assist our students and families with items for the holidays. Please let us know if you would welcome assistance and would be willing for Mrs. Nixon, our counselor, to call or email you if an organization volunteers to donate this year. In the past we have had organizations offer to donate food, clothing, and toys to our families in need. If you are interested in receiving assistance, please email Mrs. Nixon at email@example.com or call her at 936-709-1700.

Nominations for Gifted and Talented Testing
Nominations opened October 2, 2017 for Conroe ISD’s Gifted and Talented program. Nominations can be made by the parents and/or teachers. All students can be nominated for the GT screener. However, it is recommended that parents of Kindergarten and 1st grade students wait until 2nd grade. Nominations will be accepted through December 20, 2017, and testing will be on campus in February with results coming back to us in May. The nomination form can be sent to school with your child or emailed to the Assistant Principal, Sarah Radford, at sradford @conroeisd.net.
The Powell PTO depends on volunteers like you to help make the year a success. There are many ways to help throughout the year – big and small! Signing up does not commit you to anything. You will be added to our volunteer database where you will learn about the various ways you can help throughout the year.
Please remember to complete the Volunteer Background Check at the bottom of the page to be able to volunteer at our school!
PTO has the following positions available this year: VP of Membership, Carnival Co-Chairs, Silent Auction Chairperson, Room Mom Liaison, Spirit Store Coordinator and Staff Appreciation Chairperson.
Volunteer Background Check
All volunteers in our school must complete the CISD Volunteer Background Check. This includes classroom readers, party volunteers, field trip chaperones and event volunteers. You can complete the free background check here.
Please sign up for a Parent Access account (PAC) if you have not done so already. This account will allow you to receive announcements, newsletters, safety information, absence and tardy notifications and other important updates. Throughout the year, you can log in to view grades, report cards, discipline records, cafeteria accounts and STAAR scores. If you registered for an account last year, you will not need to re-register for an account this year.
Due to problems with our online school calendar, we are including a list of upcoming events.
